Microdermabrasion treatments are also known as the “lunchtime facial”. This treatment is non invasive and does not need any anesthesia at all. It is quick and very easy to do. The time it usually takes for each microdermabrasion session is 15 to 14 minutes in relation to the area and condition treated. The word Microdermabrasion is actually a combination of three words. These words are “Micro” for the microscopic aluminum oxide or mineral crystal, “Derma” for the outer layer of the skin. And “Abrasion” which is the method used during microdermabrasion.

There are several microdermabrasion treatments available in the market and in the internet today. Microdermabrasion treatments are very popular and widely used by the majority. It helps in the improvement of the circulating blood in the skin. Furthermore, due to the friction created, dead skin cells are removed and will be replaced by new skin cells.

Microdermabrasion treatments remove blackheads, whiteheads, blemishes, age spots, sun spots, wrinkles and fine lines. Additionally, this skin improvement method treats hyperpigmentation or melasma, brown spots, clogged pores, enlarged pores and dull skin. Aside from that, they also work in the removal or reduction of mild acne, as well as mild acne scarring.

Microdermabrasion performed in the hospital or clinic is usually expensive but usually assures greater quality. On the other hand, microdermabrasion done in spas and beauty salon usually utilizes state of the art equipments as well. For home microdermabrasion kits, they are easy and convenient to use. Plus, these home kits are very affordable.

This lunchtime facial does not produce serious side effects not unless for hypersensitivity reactions and accidental eye contact. Every after each treatment session, it is advised to apply sunscreen protection creams and to avoid exposing the skin to sunlight.
